The Best Wake Me Up Energizer Green Smoothie

Greetings 4am Fitness Crew.

It is February and we are continuing to gently heal (detox) from the abuse of the holiday season while energizing our bodies. This energizing nutrient packed green smoothie is a great recovery drink that will also super-charge your day. You just might not need coffee this morning. Lol

This smoothie has some of my favorites:

  • Spinach and baby kale: Not sexy, BUT, packed with vitamins C, E, K, A/beta carotene, antioxidants and more

  • Coconut water: Deliciously refreshing and filled with potassium and electrolytes for your post workout recovery

  • Banana: There is more to this fruit than the tasty, smooth texture it gives your smoothies. Bananas are filled with post exercise giants like potassium and magnesium. No wonder this fruit is a favorite for distant runners.

  • Lemon:  You cannot have a green smoothie without this cancer fighting, heart health supporting, antioxidant Vitamin C powerhouse.

  • Ginger: Just for the taste I will include ginger in everything. But there is more to this root than taste. Ginger possess powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidants properties – making it a post recovery must.

  • Garlic: Like ginger I put garlic in everything – but not for the taste – unless you are cooking it. Don’t worry too much about the taste – the other ingredients do a good job at neutralizing it. This close family to onion has some very exciting health benefits. Garlic is rich in vitamin C and B6,  combining to keep the flu away and provide maximum support to our immune system. The active ingredients in garlic have been shown to be useful in reducing blood pressure and improving cholesterol levels – which in turn positively impacts heart health.

This smoothie is a breeze to make. While it does not taste like a sundae, your liver, heart, aching muscles, and healthy weight goals will love you for it.
